Report: Co-authored by BCIT and project consultant AES Engineering. This report identifies and examines some of the barriers to EV adoption, looks at specific examples in the Lower Mainland and Canada, and discusses how challenges are being addressed and some of the drivers needed to accelerate the process. The report also includes description and analysis of tests performed at BCIT to investigate the impact of harmonic distortion produced by electric vehicles on-board chargers, and their potential impact on electrical systems, with particular attention to EV Charger retro-fits in Multi-unit Residential Buildings (MURB). The results are compared with industry standards for harmonics.
