The Smart Microgrid Initiative at BCIT conducts applied research, development and demonstration (RD&D) projects towards advancing the state of Smart Grid on a global scale. The Smart Microgrid Applied Research Team (SMART) has a successful track record of over fifteen years in Smart Grid Applied RD&D in the areas of

1. Microgrid and Energy Management Systems,
2. Electric Vehicle Infrastructure, and
3. Critical Infrastructure Cybersecurity.
